AEQ-Certified and Accredited ORV Guide Training
Training for Off-Road Vehicle Guides*
This theoretical safety training is now mandatory for all off-road vehicle (ORV) tour guides. It is delivered by Mike Smith, an AEQ-accredited instructor.
The goal of the course is to develop skills to identify and manage risks associated with guided ORV outings — snowmobile, ATV (quad), off-road motorcycle —and to improve the safe supervision of groups.
Certification is issued by Aventure Écotourisme Québec, valid for three years and renewable for the same period.
Training Program
17 hours of classroom training over 2 days, including group-based simulations.

- Planning and prevention
- Emergency planning
- Gear – Maps – Equipment
- Feedback and follow-up
- Personal action plan
Training concludes with a 2-hour online test.
Prerequisites
Guides must hold one of the following certifications:
- 20h Wilderness & Remote First Aid Certification issued by the Canadian Red Cross
- 20h Remote Area First Aid Certification issued by SIRIUSMEDx

* Guide Definition
*An off-road vehicle tour guide is a person who, for compensation, works with clients, travel agencies, adventure tourism companies, and various other stakeholders in the industry to plan off-road outings in natural settings, coordinate and lead activities, teach techniques related to the activity and safety, supervise groups, interpret the natural environment, and respond in emergency situations.
