Adventure Story: Seven Riders on the Sentier Coureur des Bois

August 25, 2025 | Fabienne Macé

When Roger, a snowmobile guide in winter and an experienced biker in summer, decided to explore a part of Canada on an adventure motorcycle, he chose to surround himself with locals. Being a guide himself had taught him an essential truth: nothing replaces intimate knowledge of the land. That’s why he entrusted B46 Aventures with organizing a tailor-made expedition for him and his friends from the United States.

A tailor-made itinerary

Four days immersed in the legendary Coureur des Bois Trail in the Laurentians. To meet the group’s wishes, two guides accompanied the expedition: at the front, with the most daring riders, Sébastien, a true local who knows the trails inside out; at the back, Mike, founder of B46 Aventures, ensured safety and kept the convoy running smoothly.

Jewels of the Upper Laurentians

Along the route, the landscapes followed one another: the majestic Gatineau River, the Serpent and César Falls, the immense Baskatong Reservoir with its 2,500 km of beaches, the Windigo Falls cascading down a rock slab, the legendary old Parent Road, the Mitsamichik Dam, and finally the endless forests leading to the legendary crimson sunset over Lake Notawissi. Each 200 km day revealed a new facet of Quebec’s wilderness.

Unexpected encounters

An unlikely but real situation: a wolf pack—twelve wolves crossed paths with the lead group! As for the rear group, they came across a moose standing at the end of a lake, peacefully drinking.

United by camaraderie

Another kind of encounter, just as memorable but especially for us, was meeting these five friends brought together by motorcycles. Different temperaments, riding levels, and expectations, yet a lot of respect and kindness between them. Their contagious good mood made our trip a real pleasure.

Comfort included

For dinners featuring local flavors, B46 Aventures had selected the lodges Mekoos, Rabaska, Notawissi and Fer à Cheval, all renowned for the quality of their menus. Nights spent in wooden chalets facing the lake offered true moments of relaxation, with feet in the sand.

5-star support

Our support vehicle carried the luggage, delivered directly to the rooms, a spare Suzuki V-Strom 800DE, a mobile mechanic workshop, Yuli ensuring flawless logistics with permanent InReach contact, and Edouard, B46’s head mechanic. Morning and evening, Edouard checked and adjusted clients’ bikes, ensuring safety and peace of mind for the group. But since the spice of adventure lies in the unexpected, we had a flat tire and a pierced radiator in the middle of the road trip! The perfect opportunity for Mike, also a VHR guide trainer, to put his mind to work and deploy his bush mechanic kit. The result: we hit the road again after a demonstration of tricks that dazzled the Americans!

“Without our guides, we would have had to wait for assistance,” said Roger, impressed. “Instead, we were able to continue our adventure without breaking the momentum.”

In the end, this trip was more than just a road trip: it was a blend of emotions, discoveries, and mutual trust. An experience signed B46 Aventures, where every detail is designed to keep the spirit of adventure alive, from the first to the last turn.
