Adventure Story: Seven Bikers on the Woodsman’s Trail

August 25, 2025 | Fabienne Macé

When Roger, a snowmobile guide in winter and seasoned biker in summer, decided to explore a part of Canada on an adventure bike, he chose to surround himself with locals. Being a guide himself had taught him an essential truth: nothing replaces the intimate knowledge of a territory. That’s why he entrusted B46 Aventures with organizing a tailor-made expedition for him and his friends from the United States.

A tailor-made itinerary

Four days of immersion in the heart of the legendary Woodsman’s Trail in the Laurentians. To meet the group’s expectations, two guides accompanied the expedition: leading the way with the most daring riders, Sébastien, a true local who knows the trails like the back of his hand; and at the rear, Mike, founder of B46 Aventures, ensured safety and smooth progress of the convoy.

Jewels of the Upper Laurentians

Along the route, panoramas followed one another: the majestic Gatineau River, the Serpent and César waterfalls, the vast Baskatong Reservoir with its 2,500 km of beaches, the Windigo Falls cascading down a stone slab, the legendary old Parent Road, the Mitsamichik Dam, and then endless forests leading to the legendary crimson sunset over Lake Notawissi. Each 200 km day revealed a new facet of Quebec’s nature.

Unexpected encounters

An improbable but real situation: a pack of wolves — twelve of them crossing the path of the lead group! As for the group in the rear, they came face to face with a moose standing at the edge of a lake, quietly drinking.

United by camaraderie

Another kind of encounter, just as memorable but especially for us, was meeting these five friends brought together by motorcycling. Different personalities, riding skills and expectations, yet a lot of respect and kindness among them. Their contagious good humor made our stay a true delight.

Comfort included

For dinners with local flavors, B46 Aventures had selected the outfitter lodges Mekoos, Rabaska, Notawissi and Fer à Cheval, renowned for the quality of their menus. Nights in wooden lakeside cabins offered true moments of relaxation, feet in the sand.

5-star support

Our support vehicle carried the luggage, delivered to the rooms, a spare Suzuki V-Strom 800DE, a mobile workshop, Yuli managing flawless logistics with constant InReach contact, and Edouard, B46’s head mechanic. Every morning and evening, Edouard checked and adjusted the clients’ bikes, ensuring safety and peace of mind for the group. But since the spice of adventure lies in the unexpected, we had a flat tire and a pierced radiator right in the middle of the road trip! The perfect opportunity for Mike, also a VHR guide trainer, to put his mind to work and pull out his bush mechanic kit. The result: we got back on the road after a demonstration of tricks that amazed the Americans!

“Without our guides, we would have had to wait for roadside assistance,” Roger admitted, impressed. “Instead, we were able to keep going without breaking the momentum.”

In the end, this trip was more than a road trip: it was a blend of emotions, discoveries, and mutual trust. An experience signed B46 Aventures, where every detail is designed so the spirit of adventure stays alive, from the first turn to the last.
